Collective exhibition of young photographers from the ages of 12 to 17, that over the year of 2008 photographed the daily lives of their neighborhoods, seeking to uncover the uniqueness of daily life in poor communities Largo do Machadinho and Pedreira in Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro State. Displayed in Casa de Cultura (museum) – Teresópolis, in September 2009.
The lenses of the adolescents provide us the generous and spontaneous smiles of the residents, the protagonists in this visual discourse that reveals the happiness in simplicity. Their gazes also present us with beautiful landscape images, a tribute to the natural beauty of Teresópolis.
The exhibition is the result of the “visual inclusion” project, developed during the research for my Master’s dissertation. The dissertation was entitled Consumer-Society from a Collective-Photography perspective: views of adolescence from poor communities Largo do Machadinho and Pedreira, Granja Guarani, Teresópolis, RJ and presented in 2008 during my Post-Graduate Psychology of Communities and Social Ecology - EICOS Program, in the Institute of Psychology, at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
My Neighborhood project intended to build a positive social representation of the residents in poor communities. It proposes a new dialogue with the local society through photography, in favor of a world without exclusion and a mutual respect for differences.
